Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, informed PUNCH Online that a young woman in her early twenties detonated her explosive device in the midst of the gathering, unleashing chaos and destruction.

Meanwhile, intelligence sources revealed to Makama that the victims, all civilians, were returning from a wedding celebration when the attack struck near a bustling motorpark.

Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, rescued the injured, and transported them to hospitals in Gwoza.

On Sunday, the President, through his spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, described the attacks as desperate acts of terror. He emphasized that these attacks clearly demonstrate the mounting pressure on terrorists and the significant success in reducing their ability to launch offensives.

The President announced that those responsible for violence will face punishment. Moreover, he emphasized that these cowardly attacks are merely isolated incidents. His government will not permit the nation to descend into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.

The statement added, “The President stated that his administration is taking necessary measures to secure citizens, emphasizing that efforts will be redoubled to ensure that those who trouble the nation, dispatching precious lives, and disrupting law and order are completely removed.

“President Tinubu condoles with the victims of the attacks, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State.”
