West Brom boss has hailed big personality, Josh Maja for scoring against Stoke City

West Bromwich Albion manager, Carlos Corberán has heaped plaudits on Josh Maja, calling the Nigerian striker a big personality after scoring again.

Maja was on target once again on Saturday with his goal helping West Brom to defeat his former loan club, Stoke City 2-1 in an English Sky Bet Championship fixture.

Maja put West Brom back in front at the bet365 Stadium as they continued their unbeaten start to the Championship season as they claimed their second successive away win at Stoke.

A frantic first half saw the Baggies take the lead through Karlan Grant before the hosts levelled the game after on-loan Liverpool man, Lewis Koumas netted on his home debut.

Less than two minutes later, West Brom were back in front as Maja’s sweetly struck effort whistled past Viktor Johansson just after the half-hour mark, turning out to be the winner.

Corberán speaking after the match praised Maja, saying: “After you have a big chance and the opponent equalises, you have to have a big personality to go on and score the second goal that you need.

“It turned out to be our winning goal and we are really pleased about that.” Maja who opened the new season two weeks ago with a hat-trick as West Brom came from behind to beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 now has four goals in three Championship games.
