Guilherme having West Ham medical: Deal worth over £20m

West Ham United are on the verge of securing a deal worth about £25 million to acquire the talented 18-year-old Brazilian winger, Luis Guilherme, from Palmeiras. 

Guilherme arrived in London on Monday and is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Tuesday. This potential transfer would mark the inaugural signing of the Julen Lopetegui era at the London Stadium. 

Recognized as one of Brazil’s most promising young talents, Guilherme debuted for Palmeiras last year at the age of 17 and showcased his skills in the Copa Libertadores this season. 

West Ham United have ambitious plans to bolster their squad with up to six signings this summer, aiming to provide substantial support to Lopetegui. 

The club’s technical director, Tim Steidten, is spearheading a significant overhaul of the first-team squad, prioritizing the acquisition of a center-forward, a right-back, and at least one new center-back. 

Steidten has been actively engaged in negotiations in Brazil, pursuing several potential deals. While Guilherme attracted late interest from the Saudi Pro League, West Ham United remain optimistic about finalizing the deal. 

In addition to targeting players from Brazil, West Ham United acknowledge the necessity of acquiring homegrown talent to comply with Premier League regulations, which impose a limit of 17 non-qualified players in each squad. 

Consequently, the Hammers are exploring various options within the Championship to address this requirement.
