Victor Osimhen has expressed his and the relief of his teammates at Galatasaray to have finally beaten Elfsborg 4-3 in the third game of their UEFA Europa League campaign on Wednesday.
Galatasaray were 3-0 ahead at one stage of the game which took place at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi but Elfsborg almost snatched a draw but the Turkish Super Lig giants held on to eventually edge the seven-goal thriller by the odd goal.
Osimhen who came off for Mitchy Batshuayi in the 86th minute thereafter spoke to the official website of UEFA, expressing his relief to have seen his club eventually secure all three points.
“We knew it would be difficult. We knew how good our opponent were in defence. They did their best. We had some scary moments towards the end and are relieved to finally seal the points,” the Super Eagles striker said.
Osimhen also expressed his delight to be playing alongside a world-class striker like Mauro Icardi who had previously played for both Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
“Playing with Icardi is very exciting. He almost laid on an assist for me and is a great player with experience,” he said of Icardi who scored Galatasaray’s first goal against Elfsborg.
“It is extraordinary to play alongside him. I enjoy it a lot. We understand each other,” the Nigerian striker who is currently playing on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli concluded.
