Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Joseph Dosu has escaped death after being involved in another road accident.

Dosu announced the near-death incident in a post he shared on his official Facebook account on Friday morning.

“To God be the glory, another death escape by Grace and Mercy of God,” he wrote, accompanying the post with a video of the crash.

“I was at Enyo Filling station after Ojodu Berger bus stop to get fuel on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

“This MACK TRUCK with registration number LND 470 XX fully loaded with IRON left the road and crouched my car beyond repair. Thank God for LIFE.”

Dosu was the only home based player to be included in Nigeria’s 1996 Olympic team where despite being the least experienced of the three goalkeepers ended up as the team’s first choice.

After winning gold with the Dream Eagles in the 1996 Olympics, he went on to play three more international games for Nigeria.

He played the November 1996 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso which the Super Eagles won 2–0 in Lagos.

Dosu featured in the friendly against Morocco in December 1996 where he kept another clean sheet and the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Kenya in January 1997.

The match against Kenya which ended in a 1–1 draw was his last game for the Nigeria as he was involved in an accident in the night of that match.

After escaping death by the whiskers, the Nigerian goalkeeper had to put an end to his football career.
