Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo has backed Victor Osimhen to definitely be back stronger
from his present situation at club level.
Napoli have excluded the reigning African Footballer of the Year, Osimhen from their Serie A squad list for the 2024/25 season.
Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano disclosed this in a post he shared on his X account on Saturday.
“Victor Osimhen has been excluded by Napoli’s Serie A squad list and also number 9 will NO longer be on his shirt,” Romano said.
“Napoli have decided to give number 9 to latest summer signing, Romelu Lukaku with immediate effect.”
Ighalo reacting to the situation offered support to Osimhen with the Al Wehda of Saudi Arabia backing his compatriot to bounce back stronger.
“No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life but seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened,” Ighalo wrote on his X account on Sunday morning.
“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he has been treated, this young man plays with his heart and pains for his country.
“Hmmm! It is well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn everyday in life, Happy New Month to y’all.”
Osimhen was expected to join any of Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia and Chelsea on transfer deadline day but none of the moves went through.
The two transfers collapsed for different reasons as Napoli pushed Al-Ahli too far with the request of an extra €5m in bonuses when agreeing €70m plus €10m in add-ons.
