Nigerian football fans have hailed Fisayo Dele-Bashiru for bailing the Super Eagles out in their 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

The 23-year-old replaced Alex Iwobi in the 74th minute of the tight AFCON qualifier and scored the winner with only three minutes left to play.

Dele-Bashiru finished with aplomb courtesy of an assist from Moses Simon for his second international goal in his fifth appearance for the senior national team.

The goal left time-wasting North Africans frustrated after the goal disrupted their game plan after which Nigerians took to X to praise the Lazio midfielder.

France-based Nigerian sports journalist, Babatunde Ojora wrote: “Moses Simon assisted. Fisayo Dele Bashiru’s finish. Nigeria find a way past stubborn Libya in Uyo.”

Also, another user, Eric said: “Dele Bashiru has won the game for Nigeria in the 87th minute!!”

Another, Olawale Quadri, said the youngster has proven himself once again.
“Dele-Bashiru appreciation tweet. Man has proven himself beyond any doubt,” he wrote on the microblogging platform.

Dr Penkin said: “And Dele Bashiru saved the day when all hope was lost. Retweet and drop a heart for him.”

Another X user identified as Gbotemi said the player made Nigerians across the world proud. “My people. Dele- Bashiru makes Nigeria proud tonight, to be sincere with ourselves, Yoruba people are doing well in the world. Ire oo,” the X user said.

An X user with the ID, Osama asked Nigerians to drop the love emojis for the Italy-based star: “Man of the match for Fisayo Dele-Bashiru,” he stated.

Furthermore, TNFCFG said the midfielder is one to watch for the future: “Shoutout to Fisayo Dele-Bashiru!

“In only his fifth international appearance for Nigeria, the midfielder has already netted two crucial goals for the Super Eagles.

“His composure and skill on the ball are top-class, proving he is one to watch for the future.”
