EPL: Manchester United reveals Eric Ten Hag’s replacement

Manchester United have reportedly identified Zinedine Zidane as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag amid increasing pressure on the Dutchman following a poor start to the season.

According to The Mirror, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is considering sacking Ten Hag, with Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager, being a top candidate for the role.

Ten Hag, who previously managed Ajax, has struggled to lift the Red Devils after finishing eighth in the Premier League last season and failing to progress from their Champions League group.

Though he narrowly avoided dismissal after winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City, the club’s board opted to keep him on.

However, a shaky start to the current season has intensified speculation around his future. Following a 1-0 victory over Fulham, United were beaten 2-1 by Brighton and then suffered a heavy defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford, further heightening the scrutiny on Ten Hag.

Zidane, who has been without a managerial role since 2021, remains a highly sought-after coach. Though linked with Manchester United, he is also a leading contender to replace Didier Deschamps as France’s national team manager.
