Eedris Abdulkareem Slams Adeboye, Tinubu, Others In New Song, ‘Emi Lokan’

Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has released a new song, “Emi Lokan,” that dashingly criticises the country’s political leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele.

In the song, Abdulkareem lambasts the leaders for their handling of the economy, alleging that they have prioritised their own interests over the welfare of Nigerians.

Eedris, in a tweet, said, “This single “EMILOKAN” from Eedris Abdulkareem is made as a guide to help all Nigerians in our collective search for a way out of this dreadful quargmire of Emilokanism that we are currently engulfed in, by examining how we got here.”

He specifically targets Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, for not speaking out against the suffering of Nigerians under the current administration.

“Hunger has turned to gold, kidnapping is a lucrative business, and our leaders are more concerned with renovating their residences and travelling excessively,” Abdulkareem sings.

“Where is our daddy, Pastor Adeboye? Your voice was loud during Jonathan’s administration, but now you are silent in the face of hunger and hardship under Tinubu’s government.”

Abdulkareem’s lyrics decry the state of the nation, where “hunger has turned to gold” and kidnapping has become a lucrative business.

He accuses the leaders of mismanaging the country’s resources, renovating their residences with billions of naira, and travelling excessively while Nigerians suffer.

“The song is a wake-up call to our leaders to take responsibility for their actions and prioritise the welfare of Nigerians,” Abdulkareem said in a statement.

“We cannot continue to suffer while our leaders enjoy the fruits of our labour. It’s time for change, and it’s time for our leaders to listen to the voices of the people.”

The song has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many Nigerians praising Abdulkareem for speaking truth to power and others criticising him for being too harsh.

“Abdulkareem’s song is a reflection of the state of our nation,” said one Twitter user. “Our leaders have failed us, and it’s time for them to take responsibility.”

Abdulkareem has long been known for his socially conscious music and criticism of government corruption.
