Why we signed Nigeria’s Victor Moses – Luton Town manager, Rob Edwards

Former Nigerian international Victor Moses has made a surprise return to English football, signing with Championship side Luton Town after a successful trial period.

The 33-year-old winger, who was a free agent after leaving Spartak Moscow, impressed Luton’s coaching staff during training sessions and a behind-closed-doors match, leading to a contract offer.

Luton manager Rob Edwards expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating,

“Victor is someone we’ve had discussions with for a while.

He brings depth, versatility, and tactical awareness, able to play on both sides or as a number ten.” However, Edwards emphasized the importance of easing Moses into the team’s tactics and style of play, saying,

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on him or expect too much too soon.

He won’t start games right away as he adjusts to our system, but he’s fit and ready to make an impact.

“Moses brings a wealth of experience to Luton, having played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League win in 2017 and Inter Milan’s Serie A triumph in 2019-20 under Antonio Conte.

With 38 appearances for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and stints in Turkey and Russia, Moses is set to make his mark once again in English football.
