Why Nigerians are facing hardship currently Women Affairs Minister, Uju- Kennedy

Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has called on Nigerians to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu as he tackles the enormous challenges left by previous administrations.

During a palliative distribution event in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Wednesday, the minister acknowledged that Tinubu faces the difficult task of restoring the economy and other vital sectors.

She emphasized that the president inherited a country weakened by successive governments, and urged the public to give him time to implement necessary reforms.

“Please be patient with the president. He is working hard to reverse the negative policies that have crippled the nation’s economy. In the coming months, we will start to see improvements.

The president is cleaning up the mess left behind, and his efforts will soon bring happiness to Nigerians,” she stated.

The event saw the distribution of 5,000 bags of 10 kg rice, 300 gas cylinders, and 500 bags of 50 kg fertilizers to the underprivileged.

Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye also highlighted the importance of social security programs aimed at assisting the less fortunate, urging people to provide their BVN for proper targeting.

She reassured Nigerians that the palliatives were designed to benefit the poor, not the wealthy.

Yinka Okpeke, CEO of Smart Gas, also spoke at the event, explaining their partnership with the Women’s Ministry to help women transition from firewood to gas for cooking.

APC Anambra State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended both the minister and the president, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s efforts to reposition Nigeria.

Tinubu, who took over from Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023, is working to steer the country out of the difficult conditions left by the previous government, both leaders elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
