US Election: Nigerian artiste, Davido congratulates Donald Trump

Afrobeats star and global sensation, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has taken to social media to extend his heartfelt congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.

The popular Nigerian-American singer celebrated Trump’s victory, acknowledging the former president’s return to power as a significant moment in U.S. politics.

In addition to his message to Trump, Davido took a moment to commiserate with Vice President Kamala Harris, who had been in the running but ultimately faced defeat.

Praising Harris for her resilience and determination, Davido described her as a “solid woman” and encouraged her to take pride in her achievements, despite the election outcome.

He emphasized her strength and the important role she played as a historic figure in U.S. politics, particularly as the first woman, and first woman of color, to hold the vice presidency. His words underscored his respect for her trailblazing efforts, advising her not to let the defeat overshadow her remarkable accomplishments.

Posting on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Davido addressed both Trump and Harris. He wrote, “Congratulations 47th POTUS @realDonaldTrump. But you @KamalaHarris should be proud! You did that! A solid woman.” His supportive message to Harris received notable attention, reflecting his sensitivity to the challenges of the political arena.

Earlier on Tuesday, Davido shared with his fans and followers that he had cast his vote for the first time in a U.S. election.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, the Afrobeats icon now holds dual citizenship, which enabled him to participate in the voting process.

Although he refrained from disclosing which candidate he supported, his enthusiasm for participating in such a pivotal election reflected his sense of civic duty and connection to the American political landscape.
