UAE Set To Lift Visa Ban Impose On Nigerians – Keyamo

The United Arab Emirates government is expected to soon announce the date for lifting the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers, according to the Federal Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

Keyamo revealed this in an interview with Otega Ogra, President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, on Sunday, stating that the UAE government has completed all necessary processes to lift the ban, which was imposed in October 2022.

The initial ban was imposed in October 2022, and reports of its lifting in March 2024 were debunked by the presidency.

Keyamo stated that although an agreement was reached between the two nations in September 2023, during President Tinubu’s working visit to the UAE, additional processes were required before the ban could be officially lifted.

However, he confirmed that these processes have now been completed, making the announcement of the lifting of the visa ban by the UAE government imminent.

“After that high-level meeting, Mr. President, credited to him, made things very easy for us all. We did our follow-ups as his ministers. We have done everything. We have resolved everything. Just wait for the announcement from the UAE government, and that announcement is imminent,” Keyamo said.

When asked about the specific date for the lifting of the ban, Keyamo noted that he is privy to the information but would wait for the official announcement to be made by the UAE government.
