Super Eagles snub, Chidera Ejuke emerges La Liga’s best dribbler

Chidera Ejuke has made a remarkable impact in La Liga despite his recent arrival and limited game time, according to stat from La Liga website.

The Nigerian winger, who joined Sevilla FC from Royal Antwerp as a free agent, is now the league’s top dribbler, as reported by ABC.

Ejuke has been a regular feature for Sevilla, playing in every league match except for the one against Las Palmas. In just 265 minutes of play, he has completed 17 successful dribbles, placing him ahead of stars like Lamine Yamal, Vinicius Junior, and Kylian Mbappé.

With an average of one successful dribble every 15 minutes, Ejuke has proven himself to be an exceptional talent on the field.

As Sevilla prepares to face Deportivo Alavés on Friday, coach García Pimienta will be counting on Ejuke’s continued brilliance.

Despite his standout performances in Belgium and now Spain, Ejuke’s skills have yet to earn him consistent recognition from the Nigerian national team.

He was left out of the Africa Cup of Nations squad in January, where Nigeria finished as runners-up under coach José Peseiro.

This omission was further extended by assistant coach Finidi George during the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifiers in June.

Interim coach Austin Eguavoen, who previously gave Ejuke his AFCON debut in 2021, has also excluded him from recent qualifiers.

At 26 years old, Ejuke has eight caps for Nigeria, with his last appearance coming in a 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau in 2022.

As his La Liga success grows, the question remains whether Nigeria will reconsider their stance on the talented winger.
