President Buhari Declares Iwuanyanwu’s Death a Major Loss to Nigeria

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his grief over the passing of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, who died on Thursday.

According to PUNCH Online, Chief Iwuanyanwu passed away at the age of 82 following a short illness.

In a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, the former President offered his sympathies to the Iwuanyanwu family, as well as to friends, colleagues, and the entire South East region.

Buhari characterized Iwuanyanwu’s death as a tragic loss for the nation and emphasized the significant impact Iwuanyanwu had in journalism, sports, politics, and national development.

The ex-President also claimed that the passing of the senior statesman was a significant blow to the country.

The statement added, “He was a visionary who revolutionised the nation’s media and sports. He made notable strides in the media industry, construction, sports, business, and politics.

“I had several opportunities to interact with him to learn about his passionate commitment to the unity, peaceful coexistence, and the development of Nigeria. His rich contributions have left indelible memories on the media, sports, politics, and business where he made extraordinary achievements.”
