Police shoot dead two robbers in Abuja car snatching incident

Police operatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have gunned down two suspected robbers who attempted to snatch a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from its owner in Abuja.

FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, who made the disclosure, noted that their operatives, led by DPO Mabushi Division, on July 22, 2024, around 10:45 p.m. while on crime prevention patrol, intercepted a group of four armed men while attempting to snatch a black Prado SUV from the owner around Capital Hub in Jahi, Abuja.

“On sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire, which resulted in a gun duel, but were overpowered by the police, as two suspects, Joshua Godfrey A.K.A. Dogo, 44 years, and Abdulsalam Mamuda, 29, both of Mabushi village, were arrested, while the two others were neutralised by the police. Their blue Toyota Matrix operational vehicle with Reg. No. BWR 626 JB was recovered.

“The two arrested suspects subsequently led police operatives to the recovery of another red Toyota Corolla car with Reg. No. RBC 743 AH, which must have been snatched from an innocent resident.”

Exhibits such as arms, cutlass, dagger, scissors, and mobile phones were recovered from them.

The commissioner of police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, while reaffirming the command’s unflinching commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties, urges residents and all medical facilities in FCT to be on the watch and to call the attention of the police to anybody sighted with bullet wounds.

“Residents are also urged to be vigilant and take advantage of the police emergency lines in reporting suspicious activities,” she said.
