Police Issue Urgent Warning: ‘One-Chance’ Robbers Targeting Commuters on Ogun Road

The Ogun State Police Command has notified the public about a notorious one-chance robbery gang that operates along the Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe expressway.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, shared this information on Thursday in a statement posted on her X account.

Odutola mentioned that the command has received several reports from residents, including one from a victim who was robbed at gunpoint of N700,000 after boarding a vehicle from Kajola on Wednesday.

Advising traders and business owners to avoid traveling with large sums of money, the spokesperson also urged commuters to record and send video evidence to the police if they feel suspicious about a particular vehicle.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealed this on Facebook on Wednesday, noting that the suspects were apprehended with the assistance of local residents.

Odutola said “The Ogun State Police Command has become inundated with complaints of a notorious gang operating within, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode to Mowe.

“Commuters on that axis, make a video of your next trip and upload it to police media when in doubt of the vehicle.

“Please alert our traders, and business owners not to risk travelling with huge cash. Today, 700k was transferred from a victim, who joined from Kajola, and at gunpoint, they drove her into a street and made a transfer into a POS machine. The investigation is ongoing.”
