The Imo State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled a camp allegedly operated by the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, the raid was carried out by the anti-kidnapping unit on October 19, 2024, in Nempi, located in Oru West Local Government Area.
During the operation, 29 suspects were taken into custody, and a cache of weapons was seized. Okoye identified one of the key suspects as 25-year-old Anukuru Nnana Emmanuel.
“The dismantling of this camp aligns with the Command’s ongoing efforts to curb violent crime and maintain peace across the state,” Okoye stated.
The police emphasized their commitment to continuing operations aimed at neutralizing threats posed by armed groups and restoring security in the region.
