Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly close to securing a season-long loan deal for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Italian side Napoli.
The move comes after Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli soured, following unsuccessful transfer attempts to Saudi Arabia and Chelsea before the transfer deadline.
According to renowned football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, with both sides eager to finalize the deal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development, noting that the agreement does not include an option for Galatasaray to make the move permanent.
“Galatasaray have agreed to cover €9-10 million of Victor Osimhen’s salary for the season. The loan deal with Napoli does not include a buy option or obligation clause.
Napoli have accepted these terms, and Galatasaray’s delegation is set to meet Osimhen in Napoli soon to secure the final approval,” Romano tweeted.
With the transfer windows in Europe’s top five leagues now closed, Turkey remains one of the few markets open for late deals, and Galatasaray is keen to take advantage of this opportunity. Napoli’s decision to leave Osimhen out of their squad has only fueled speculation about his imminent departure.
The urgency for Galatasaray to sign a striker has grown following Mauro Icardi’s injury, which has left a significant gap in their attacking lineup.
The Turkish champions see Osimhen as a crucial addition who could elevate their domestic and European campaigns.
There are even considerations for a tactical shift to a 3-5-2 formation that would allow both Icardi and Osimhen to play together once Icardi returns from injury.
Securing Osimhen would be a major coup for Galatasaray, as the 24-year-old has been one of the most sought-after talents in European football, drawing interest from several top clubs. Known for his powerful playstyle, clinical finishing, and ability to lead the line, Osimhen’s potential move to Galatasaray is seen as a temporary solution that benefits all parties.Interestingly, Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Ahli, who had previously shown interest in Osimhen, appear to have withdrawn from the race, leaving Galatasaray with a strong chance of completing the signing.
As the Turkish transfer window nears its closure on September 13, Galatasaray are working tirelessly to finalize the deal.
If successful, this transfer would not only bolster Galatasaray’s attacking options but also send a strong message to their rivals both in Turkey and across Europe.
The ongoing saga surrounding Victor Osimhen has been one of the most talked-about stories of the summer, with the striker being linked to clubs in England, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. Now, all eyes are on Istanbul as the clock ticks down to the Turkish transfer deadline, to see if Galatasaray can secure one of the biggest signings of the summer.
