Five months and two days after he first shared the news of their arrival, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, welcomed twins born by his wife, Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi, to his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday.
Oba Ogunwusi had earlier announced the birth of the twins, a boy and a girl, on his Facebook page on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
The royal father that day wrote, “To God be the glory; great things He has done. Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and Olori Tobiloba, who today birthed a prince and princess to the royal throne of Oduduwa. Mother and children are doing well to the glory of God Almighty.”
The monarch shared a post with a photo of himself and the twins’ mother.
In the video, the Obalufe of Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, who is the Ooni’s second-in-command, and the Lowa of Ife, Oba Adekola Adeyeye, the Ooni’s third-in-command, were seen accepting the babies from Olori Tobiloba and another individual whose identity could not be confirmed at the time.
The two chiefs eventually brought the infants to the royal father, who was seated in his place.
Songs praising the monarch and the twins echoed in the background, while the attendees of the ceremony were also seen in the video seated under canopies, watching the event.
