The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged Nigerians to rally against the hike in fuel prices.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja at the unveiling of a book, ‘The Tripartite: Understanding the Interplay between Workers, employers, and Government’. Sharon Ijasan authored the book
He explained that resisting the hike in petrol pump prices goes beyond organised labour.
His words: “Nigerians are expecting the labour movement to react to this hike. But, the issue at stake is more than labour movement.
“If we can get some naira or are unable to get it, only workers will benefit from that. What I think Nigerians should do is to mobilise and react as a collective.”
He also accused the government of embarking on unbridled price hikes and neglecting the revival of the ailing refineries.
Ajaero disclosed that Congress has taken delivery of 14 CNG-powered vehicles but decried the unavailability of refilling stations across the country.
