The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has inducted 123 pioneer officers into its Command and Control Centre (CCC) facility to secure Nigeria’s vast borders.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this on Monday night in a post he shared on his official X account, adding that Nigeria’s border security, border governance and border control capabilities have just gotten better.

“Today, we take a giant leap, inducting 123 pioneer officers into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Command and Control Centre (CCC) facility after proving to be competent by successfully completing various trainings and drills on the use of these state-of-the-art technologies to secure our vast borders,” Tunji-Ojo said.

“Through leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships, our government under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders.”

Tunji-Ojo said confidently that with the facility now completed and the officers trained and equipped with necessary skills and expertise, Nigeria has joined an elite list of countries whose immigration officers can conduct 24/7 monitoring with real-time surveillance of the land, maritime and air borders.

He added that this technology also affords the nation global integration where it can seamlessly collaborate with the International Police (Interpol) and other foreign security agencies.

“Today, I am proud of what the Nigeria Immigration Service as a border security agency has achieved and looking forward to more strides of all agencies under the Ministry of Interior,” the minister concluded.
