The NDDC has launched the second phase of Project HOPE

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched the second phase of Project HOPE in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a statement on its official X account on Tuesday, the MD and CEO of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku said the second phase is aimed at empowering the youth of the Niger Delta.

“The launch of the second phase of Project HOPE, aimed at empowering the youth of the Niger Delta, is a significant milestone for the region,” Ogbuku said.

“We are standing at the cusp of a new era for the Niger Delta filled with possibilities driven by the immense potential of our youth.

“Project HOPE, which stands for Holistic Opportunities Programmes for Engagement, was created to address the critical challenges faced by our young population, especially concerning unemployment and the lack of meaningful opportunities for engagement.

“As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, I have personally witnessed the untapped potential among our youth which inspired the inception of Project HOPE.

“Today marks the launch of the second phase, which is focused on implementing eight carefully crafted programs designed to create jobs and empower our youth across various sectors.”

He said these sectors are agriculture, music & arts, technology (Mili-Tech), entrepreneurship, internship, maritime (NDDC Cadets), underwater welding and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Ogbuku said these programs are firmly rooted in the core elements of the NDDC’s Renewed Hope Vision which encompasses building partnerships, electrifying the Niger Delta, reducing carbon emissions, enhancing youth capacity and skills, engaging stakeholders and improving peace and security.

The NDDC managing director added that the success of Project HOPE relies on collaboration.

“I extend an invitation to government entities, private sector partners, international stakeholders, community leaders, and non-governmental organizations to join us in this noble endeavor,” Ogbuku said.

“To the youth of the Niger Delta, this is your time. Embrace these opportunities with passion and determination.

“You hold the key to your destiny and are the driving force behind regional transformation,” he concluded.
