Nigeria was plunged into darkness once again on Thursday following yet another collapse of the national grid.
Power supply across the country was disrupted at approximately 11:20 am, marking the second grid failure this week and the twelfth in the past eleven months.
The Nigeria National Grid confirmed the incident on X (formerly Twitter) via its official handle, @NationalGridNg, posting, “BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced.
”The frequent power disruptions have sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing frustration over the grid’s repeated instability.
While the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has yet to release an official statement explaining the latest failure, earlier reports attributed Tuesday’s collapse to line and generator trips.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, received an investigative report on the persistent grid failures, though its findings have not yet been made public.
