Moses Simon has emphasized the importance of the Super Eagles beginning their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a victory.
The Nigerian team will face their neighbors, Benin Republic, in a matchday one clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
In their last meeting, Benin Republic, under the management of Gernot Rohr, secured a 2-1 win over the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in June.
Simon expressed that it’s crucial for the Super Eagles to avenge that defeat this time around.
“All Nigerians are expecting a win, so we will go out there and give our best,” the Nantes winger told pressmen.
“The most important thing is for Nigeria to secure a victory.”
