LAMATA has partnered with Transport for London (TfL) to elevate transportation in Lagos State

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has partnered with Transport for London (TfL) to elevate transportation in Lagos State.

LAMATA announced its deal with TfL on Monday night in a statement it shared on its official X account.

“In a bid to align transport services in the state with international best practices, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority and Transport for London kicked off another phase of the six-month knowledge-exchange partnership funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO),” the statement read.

A delegation from the State Ministry of Transportation, led by the Permanent Secretary, Olawale Musa and LAMATA led by its Managing Director, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo recently visited London from September 30 to October 4, 2024 to gain insights into TfL’s network and operational models.

The partnership aims to equip the authority with the knowledge and tools necessary to improve Lagos’ transportation system, making it more efficient, accessible and sustainable by studying TfL’s successful initiatives.

LAMATA said it hopes to implement similar strategies in Lagos State to enhance the overall quality of life for residents and commuters.

The delegation’s visit to London included site visits, meetings with TfL officials and discussions on various aspects of transportation management.

“The knowledge and experience gained from this partnership will be invaluable as LAMATA continues to modernize and expand the state’s transportation infrastructure,” the statement read.
