The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, announced the move at a meeting with bus operators and union leaders, stating that the current state of bus operations on the Lekki/Epe corridor is chaotic and needs regulation.

The government plans to restructure existing unregulated public transport bus operations, deploy high-capacity buses, re-allocate and relocate Korope/Minibuses to inner routes, and introduce an e-ticketing system.

The plan also includes the provision of transport infrastructure, regulation and standardisation of bus operations, and improved transportation services.

Giwa urged transport operators to register within the next two weeks, warning that any operator who violates the regulations will be fined and may forfeit their vehicles.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Olawale Musa, assured that the state government is counting on the unions to support the initiative, which aims to standardise the transportation system in Lagos.
