The Football Association (FA) has decided not to issue any retrospective punishment to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland for bouncing the ball off Gabriel’s head following their late equalizer against Arsenal.

The incident occurred in the 98th minute of a thrilling 2-2 draw, shortly after John Stones scored a dramatic equalizer for City.

Haaland had initially opened the scoring, before Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel put Arsenal ahead.Leandro Trossard was shown a second yellow card for kicking the ball away, and shortly after, Stones scored to level the game.

Following the goal, Haaland picked up the ball and threw it against Gabriel’s head, who had his shirt over his face at the time.

No action was taken during the match, and the FA has confirmed that VAR had already reviewed the incident, so no further punishment will be issued.

Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, has expressed regret over missing the opportunity to buy Arsenal for $2 billion in the past.

Speaking with Bloomberg’s Francine Lacqua in New York on Monday, Dangote acknowledged that the chance to purchase the Premier League club may have passed.

“I think that time has passed. The last time we had this interview, I mentioned that once I finished the refinery, I would try to buy Arsenal,” he said.

“But the issue now is that everything has gone up, and the clubs are doing well—especially Arsenal, who are performing exceptionally well now.

Back then, they weren’t doing as well.”He continued, “I don’t think I have the excess liquidity to buy a club for $4 billion just for promotional purposes. I’d rather invest the money elsewhere.

I’ll always remain Arsenal’s biggest fan and continue watching their games, but buying the club doesn’t seem sensible at this point.

.”Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Dangote added, “I do regret not buying Arsenal earlier when I could have for $2 billion, but at the time, my resources were more needed for completing my other projects.”

The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is expected to resume today, Tuesday, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Kanu, who was rearrested and repatriated from Kenya in 2021, has been on trial facing terrorism-related charges brought by the Nigerian government.

A notice from his lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, reads: “PUBLIC NOTICE: As previously scheduled, the hearing of MAZI NNAMDI KANU’s case will take place TODAY (24th Sept) at 10 AM, instead of the earlier time of 12 noon.

A fuel tanker exploded in Maitama, Abuja, on Monday night, injuring several people and sparking widespread panic.

The incident occurred along Shehu Shagari Way, impacting passengers in a commercial vehicle as well.Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and nearby hospitals were notified to assist the injured.

The tanker driver reportedly fled after the truck overturned, causing the explosion, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

The blast also triggered severe traffic congestion, further disrupting movement in the busy part of the federal capital.

Bottom team Libya has opted to host Group D leaders Nigeria at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Matchday 4 encounter.

The facility is located in the city of Benina, some 19 kilometres outside the country’s second city, Benghazi.

Known previously as Hugo Chávez Stadium, the stadium is a 10,000-capacity facility with an artificial turf.

Both countries will do a Matchday 3 battle at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Friday, 11th October, before the clash in the city at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday, 15th October.

While the match in Uyo will kick off at 5pm, the battle in Benina will commence at 8pm Nigeria time.

Dr Jobson Ewalefoh, the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has said that the construction of the 3.5 billion dollar Bakassi Deep Seaport would soon commence.

This is contained in a statement issued by Ifeanyi Nwoko, ICRC’s Acting Head of Media and Publicity in Abuja on Monday.

Ewalefoh made this known at a High-level Stakeholders’ meeting where a statement of endorsement for the port project was signed.

The ICRC D-G who said the construction would commence under the administration of Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River State, assured that the project would be completed in record time.

He said that his assurance was premised on four things which include the fact that the government of the state had demonstrated great commitment and zeal required for the project.

Others he said were the newly streamlined ICRC Public Private Partnership(PPP) processes; the securing of a financier for the project; and the support of all other stakeholders present.

Ewalefoh said the 3.5 billion dollar project whose funding has been secured from the African Import-Export Bank(Afreximbank), is to be executed as a PPP project.

He said that the ICRC had streamlined its PPP processes to ensure they were faster than before.

According to Ewalefoh, we are not compromising standards, we are only making the process more efficient which I have commenced as the D-G of ICRC.

He assured the Governor of Cross River that the project would be completed under his tenure with the support of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Shippers Council and all the stakeholders.

“You have demonstrated that you have what it takes to do it, just like President Tinubu has given confidence to investors to bring their funds to Nigeria.

“This is not a project that you started, the baton was only handed over to you, but like the man on the last lap, you are running the fastest and you will cut the tape.

“With the team you have assembled and the activities that are going on, you will arrive at the destination of the Bakassi Deep Seaport.

“I am convinced that in your tenure, with your team, Bakassi Deep Seaport will be a reality to the people of Cross River state and Nigerians,” he said.

The D-G said that the port was very important as it would diversify the traffic from the Western Port and serve as a succour to the Eastern parts of Nigeria.

He added that the Bakassi Deep Seaport is an Agro-Value-Chain port that will explore the potential in the nation’s agricultural sector in the South-South part of Nigeria, the North as well as all of Africa.

Ewalefoh thanked Afreximbank for believing in the state and Nigeria as he reassured investors that Nigeria was a choice destination for investment opportunities.

The statement said a high point of the meeting was the signing of the statement of endorsement by all critical stakeholders to the projects including the ICRC and the Cross River State Government.

Others include the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Nigerian Shippers Council, among others.
