Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has been stripped of his coveted No. 7 shirt, with new signing Pedro Neto being handed the iconic number for the upcoming season.
This decision comes as the Blues are open to listening to offers for Sterling, indicating a potential departure from the club.
Sterling had previously worn the No. 17 shirt after his move from Manchester City two years ago, before switching to the No. 7 shirt last season.
However, Neto, who made his debut against Manchester City on Sunday wearing the No. 19 shirt, will now take on the No. 7 jersey.
In another development, new signing Joao Felix will don the No. 14 shirt, which previously belonged to Trevoh Chalobah.
Chalobah has been informed in face-to-face talks with head coach Enzo Maresca that he is not part of the team’s plans for the upcoming season. Interestingly, Felix had worn the No. 14 shirt during his loan spell at Barcelona last season, and had previously worn the No. 11 shirt during his loan stint at Chelsea 18 months ago.
