Alleged hackers have gained control of the official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board. They have used this access to post nude photos and other inappropriate content. The Guardian discovered that Hisbah became aware of the situation a few days ago when the page was flooded with offensive images that contradict the agency’s principles.
Hisbah Commander General Sheikh Aminu Daurawa informed reporters that steps are being taken to resolve the issue.
Daurawa expressed regret over the situation and encouraged people to ignore the current circulating content, emphasizing that the images being shared do not reflect the board’s fundamental values.
“Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem,” he said.
He assured the public that the board’s ICT department is diligently working to regain control of the page and is in communication with Meta to address the problem.

Darawa encouraged the community to report any compromised pages to Meta in English to help stop the spread of unsuitable content. On a related note, the head of ICI, Sani Zaila, mentioned that the account had faced a cyber threat before, which Meta had managed to resolve. He stated that the social media platform’s owner has promised to fix the issue within 48 hours. He also thanked the public for their support and concern, highlighting the ongoing efforts to recover the page and regain control.
