Terror struck the hearts of Ibaka residents in Mbo Local Government Area (Akwa Ibom) as armed assailants seized eight individuals, including a Naval Rating, from their midst.
Reports indicate that the victims were forcibly taken on Monday night from the tranquil confines of Classic Point Hotel, Ibaka, where they sought solace.
Sources within the community revealed that the abductors swiftly spirited away their captives under cover of darkness.
Akwa Ibom State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, validated these distressing events when contacted, acknowledging the chilling incident on Monday evening.
Commissioner Waheed Ayilara stormed the community with a squad of police officers immediately upon receiving the report.
John said: “When the police got the information the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of security personnel to the community. I can assure you that with that visit by the CP and other strategic approaches normalcy will return.”
The Naval authorities in Akwa Ibom have remained silent regarding the unfolding situation.
