Gunmen abduct council boss, others in Nasarawa, demands N50million ransom

Unknown gunmen on New Year’s day kidnapped Mr. Safiyanu Isa, the Council Chairman of Akwanga Local Government in Nasarawa State along Adamu Custom at Ningo along Andaha, Akwanga.

Confirming the incident, Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mr Haruna Kassimu said Isa was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga – Andaha road in the Akwanga Local government area of the state along with one Alhaji Adamu Custom at about 8:30 in the evening of January 1st, 2024.
He noted that security agencies had responded swiftly by chasing after the gunmen who forcefully fled with the council chairman to an unknown destination.
Adamu Custom who was also kidnapped alongside the council boss is the Senior special adviser to Governor Sule on local government affairs.

The State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ramhan Nansel who also confirmed the incident said the police in collaboration with other security agencies were on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the release of the council chairman and the other victim.
The abductors are demanding a sum of N50million naira as ransom according to a close family relation who preferred anonymity.
The spate of kidnapping in the state in recent time has left residents of the state in constant fear even as security agents continued to battle the gunmen.
