Transportation costs in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to soar following a significant hike in petrol prices by some stations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Abuja on Wednesday.
Several NNPCL stations increased the price of petrol from N897 to N1,030 per litre, marking a 14.8 percent or N133 rise.
At the NNPCL mega station in Central Area, a customer expressed frustration, noting that the new price was not displayed on the signboard or pump meter, leaving customers to rely on verbal communication from fuel attendants.Meanwhile, independent marketers like Conoil and Total Energies sold petrol at N926 per litre, but long queues were observed at these stations. This marks the second price increase within the month.
