FRSC Urges Motorists to Plan Ahead of MFM Convention

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has advised motorists and commuters using the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to be mindful of traffic disruptions due to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry‘s (MFM) annual convention, scheduled from August 16 to 18, 2024.

The command urged travellers to plan their trips between Friday and Sunday to avoid getting caught in any potential traffic jams.

Sector command spokesperson, Florence Okpe, issued this advice on Friday, in light of the ongoing MFM global convention.

Okpe noted that there will likely be a significant increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic during this period, and recommended that people plan their journeys carefully and avoid unnecessary travel along the route.

She mentioned that the sector command has also stationed corps operatives from Mowe, Ibafo, and other areas of the state at key locations, particularly on peak days, to prevent traffic jams.

The statement partly read, “The Mountain of Fire and Miracles has lined up activities between Friday, August16 and Sunday, August 18 2024 in commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the mssion and a global convention.

“The said programme is expected to attract a high volume of human and vehicular traffic of worshippers going into and out of the MFM Prayer City camp within the aforementioned duration.

“The personnel of FRSC from RS2.23 Mowe, RS2.23A Ibafo and other commands that will be invited on the peak day will be deployed to various strategic locations to manage and direct the flow of traffic in a bid to minimise  the traffic congestion and possibly   prevent it,   as this will save other road users from spending too much time in traffic as a result of the ongoing program.

“Other road users of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are therefore advised to plan their journeys and avoid unnecessary trips along the corridor within the stated dates.”
