FIFA has approved interim transfer rules to allow players to switch teams and participate in the Club World Cup in the USA next June and July.
The new regulations will enable players whose contracts expire on June 30, 2025, to sign early as free agents for one of the 32 participating teams, which include Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and PSG.
If deals are agreed between clubs, the FIFA amendments will permit players to play for their new team for two weeks starting in mid-June, even before their current contracts officially end.
This is because the tournament falls within the ongoing season.
However, players will not be allowed to represent two different clubs during the competition, which will take place across 12 stadiums.
