Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, representing Zamfara West, has advised Nigerians against participating in the planned nationwide protest that began on Thursday, August 1.
Speaking to a large crowd in Talata-Mafara on Wednesday, Senator Yari emphasized that small-scale protests would not resolve the country’s longstanding issues, which have persisted for decades.
He argued that such protests would only exacerbate the situation, as seen in many other countries.
Yari clarified that the current economic challenges were not caused by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, but were inherited from previous governments. He accused some individuals of misleading the public on this matter.
The senator voiced his disapproval, stating that certain individuals were attempting to ruin the nation by manipulating the youth to protest against the Federal Government for their gain.
Yari reiterated, “I want to call on the Nigerian youths to shun anything capable of destroying your country.
“You should not listen to those people who are pushing you to set your country on fire.
“They have a hidden agenda, but by the grace of God, they will never succeed.
“I believe that President Bola Tinubu is working round the clock to make Nigeria a better country where everyone will be proud of.
Senator Yari elaborated that the Federal Government has thoughtfully devised multiple relief measures to mitigate the impact of the oil subsidy removal and fluctuating foreign exchange rates.
Additionally, he promised the citizens of Zamfara State that he would intensify efforts to provide welfare initiatives.
He urged all Nigerians to back President Bola Tinubu’s administration to help elevate the nation to new heights.
