Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, a former Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, has been chosen as the 14th Asagba of Asaba, Delta State.
The Asagba-in-Council declared him the most suitable candidate among 10 competitors, all from Ugbomanta quarters, for the role following the passing of Prof. Chike Edozien, the previous Asagba.
The Ochendo Ahaba (Regent), Anthony Edozien, announced the outcome of the selection in accordance with the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Edict of 1979, which applies to Delta State, during a ceremony at the Asagba Palace in Ezenei quarters, Asaba, on Sunday.
He said, “Prof Epiphany Azinge, SAN, has been selected among 10 contenders after due process.
“He will be coronated in due course.”
Other contenders, apart from Prof. Azinge, are Tony Ogugua Konwea, Prof. Emmanuel Onwuka and Ogbuechi Chinedu Esealuka, among others.
