Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has appointed former Nigeria international and 1994 African Footballer of the Year, Emmanuel Amuneke, as the Technical Manager of Heartland Football Club, Owerri.
The unveiling ceremony took place yesterday at the New Executive Council Chambers, Government House Owerri. Governor Uzodimma stated that the goal is to “reposition Heartland Football Club for a brighter future to the happiness of Imo people and football enthusiasts in particular.”
The Governor noted that when he assumed office in 2020, Heartland FC was relegated, and he made significant efforts to bring it back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). However, he expressed regret that the club has recently declined again, necessitating a reorganization of its administrative structure and a repositioning of its management and technical team.
