A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar has said that it is an embarrassment for the Federal Government (FG) to mourn the late Sarkin Gobir.
President Bola Tinubu in a statement signed by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale mourned the slain Sarkin Gobir, HRH Isa Bawa, District Head of Gatawa District of Sokoto State.
Abubakar reacting said it is even an embarrassment for the Tinubu-led administration to share a condolence message.
“When the bandits released a video of Sarkin Gobir pleading to the authorities to come for his aide, we didn’t hear any move from the government,” he wrote in a post on his X account on Thursday morning.
“It is now after they killed him the presidency released a press release in the name of condolence message.
“Left to me, it is even an embarrassment for Tinubu’s led administration to share a condolence message for the death of someone who spent days and got killed in the hands of bandits under President Tinubu’s watch.
“This clearly portrays his colossal failure in security sector and yet another proof that Nigeria is too big for a regional champion.
“Your government rescued the mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) musician, Rarara when she was kidnapped.
“However, they could not rescue the whole Emir of Gobir who dedicated his life fighting these terrorists. We will remind you of this come 2027.”
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, meanwhile, has paid tribute to the slain Sarkin Gobir and urged improved security across Nigeria.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the entire community of Gobir Emirate and the government of Sokoto State on the tragic loss of Sarkin Gobir, HRH Alh. Isa Bawa, District Head of Gatawa District in Sabon Birni local Government,” he wrote on Wednesday evening.
“The heinous act of violence perpetrated by bandits resulting in the untimely demise of such a revered leader is a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures in safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
“The failure of government to show concern or devise effective security strategies has undoubtedly contributed to the escalation of such distressing events in recent times.”
Atiku said it is important to reiterate that government must provide security that will ensure the protection of lives, such that individuals do not have to live in fear of falling victims to senseless acts of violence.
“May the Almighty Allah accept the soul of Alhaji Isa Bawa and grant his bereaved family and people the fortitude to bear his loss. Amin,” the former VP prayed.
