The DSS has released six detained #EndBadGovernance protesters in Kaduna State

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released six protesters who were arrested and detained during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Kaduna State.

The Nation reports that a source confirmed on Sunday that the DSS Director-General ordered the detainees to be released last Thursday.

“According to the source, those released commended the gesture and expressed optimism on the humane face with which the Service conducted the investigation,” the report read.

According to the report, no fewer than six persons held in Kaduna had regained their freedom, having been cleared at the end of investigations.

The Nation, meanwhile, quotes the source as saying that three persons are still facing prosecution for established prima facie cases.

“The DG DSS has reiterated citizen’s right to peaceful protest as enshrined in the constitution and regard for the rule of law,” the source said.

“He is resolute on upholding the mandate of the service of decisively investigating and bringing to justice those who exploit such rights to perpetrate crime.”
