Atiku Reacts To Tinubu’s Fall At Democracy Day Event

In a surprising turn of events, President Bola Tinubu suffered a fall on Wednesday during Nigeria’s Democracy Day parade at Eagle Square.

Tinubu stumbled and fell while attempting to enter the vehicle, but his aides rushed to his aid and helped him back up.

Responding to the incident, the opposition leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, extended his sympathies to the president, saying, “I do hope that all is well with him.”

“I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu over this unfortunate incident, as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him,” Atiku said on X.

Many people seem surprised by Atiku’s sympathy, with some interpreting it as a mockery of the president and others claiming that it was not genuine.

Atiku had earlier berated the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) for the nation’s economic woes, stating that the past nine years of the APC administration have brought hardship to the people.

He added that Nigerian democracy is not yet virile if it continually fails to deliver the promises of prosperity and liberty to the people.

Meanwhile, on what some refer to as “Tinubu’s Democracy Day Fall,” the president’s aide, Dada Olusegun, commented on the incident, saying it was a minor oversight and that there are no problems.

Olusegun, in a short tweet, stated, “Mr. President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
