The Delta State Police Command on Friday said its officers fired teargas at a group of protesters for blocking a major road.
The spokesman of the Delta State Police, SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a post on the command’s X account.
“So we got a call that some so-called protesters blocked the Asaba-Benin expressway in Agbor, beating passengers and destroying vehicles for over three hours,” Edafe said.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP deployed the Deputy Commissioner of Police operations, who led tactical teams to Agbor.
“The protesters threw stones at the Police but they were forcefully dispersed with the use of tear gas and the road cleared for travellers to continue their journey. Violent protest is not protest, it is criminal.”
