Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has expressed his disappointment over the club’s failure to secure Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea had been heavily linked with the Nigerian striker, but despite their efforts, particularly on transfer deadline day, they were unable to finalize a deal.
Instead of heading to Stamford Bridge, the 25-year-old joined Turkish champions Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
Johnson remarked that Chelsea should have prioritized signing Osimhen to strengthen their young squad, stating,
“The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen.
He was the big name they wanted but missed out on. They’ve brought in many young players who may not feature immediately, even after spending heavily.
Osimhen was the major signing they needed but couldn’t secure.”
