Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has retired as the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Born on August 22, 1954, Justice Ariwoola was elevated to the Supreme Court on November 22, 2011, and was appointed substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria on June 27, 2022, following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad.
He was formally confirmed as Chief Justice by the Nigerian Senate on September 21, 2022.
Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun will succeed Justice Ariwoola.
