BASKETBALL SHOTS:• FIBA Africa Zone 3 sympathizes with Air Warriors Basketball Club after road accident

Remain steadfast, hopeful in your noble quest to provide meaningful development, Retired Colonel Ahmedu

The FIBA Africa Zone 3 sympathizes with the management, officials and players of Air Warriors Basketball Club of Abuja, over the team and officials, who were involved in a road accident on their way to Lagos, for the final 8 tournament of the 2024 Nigeria Premier Women’s Basketball League Final 8.

The President of FIBA Africa Zone 3 Retired Colonel Samuel Ahmedu said, “I have just received the sad news that members of the Air Warriors Basketball Team were involved in a serious vehicle accident resulting in some injuries while travelling to Lagos for the Final Rounds of Female Basketball League about a week ago.

”The seasoned sports administrator thanked the Almighty Allah for his mercies for sparing the lives of those involved in the accident. “Please accept, on behalf of myself and the National Basketball Federations of FIBA Africa Zone 3, our heartfelt sympathy and commiseration on the unfortunate incident.

”The FIBA Chief who is also a board member of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), said further that all basketball followers recognize and appreciate the contributions and support of Air Warriors and it’s Club Chairman Abdulmajid Solademi are giving to lift basketball in Nigeria and FIBA Zone 3.It’s imperative to mention that Air Warriors has emerged Nigerian National Champions, while players and Coaches like Murjanatu Musa and Blessing Waziri (Kacham) Samson Sotiminu and Aderemi Adewunmi (Coach Owollo), have represented Nigeria in international competitions these past years.

“I encourage you (Club Chairman Alhaji Abdulmajid Solademi), to remain steadfast and hopeful in your noble quest of providing meaningful development and source of livelihood for our youths using your team as a veritable vehicle,” Ahmedu who is also an Executive Member of FIBA Africa added.

The proprietor of Dodan Warriors Basketball Club and Academy pray that Allah continue to reward the chairman of Air Warriors and his management team bless their good work and elevate the Club to attain greater heights.Meanwhile, Club Chairman Alhaji Abdulmajid Solademi expressed gratitude to the basketball community, fans, and well-wishers for their support during this difficult time.

“This heart-wrenching incident serves as a poignant reminder of life’s fragility.

The Air Warriors vow to support their teammates, rebuild, and honour their resilience, continuing to strive for excellence on and off the court.

”There were reported cases of fractures and lacerations to players and officials in the road accident but they are recovering well.
