Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has expressed strong confidence in Victor Boniface’s ability to break his international goal drought in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, scheduled for Friday (today).
Boniface, a standout striker for Bayer Leverkusen, has yet to find the back of the net in his eight appearances for the Nigerian national team, despite his impressive club form.
Nonetheless, Eguavoen remains optimistic that the talented forward will shine against the Mediterranean Knights and finally open his goal account for the three-time African champions.
Boniface is expected to lead Nigeria’s attack in the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, as the Super Eagles aim to secure a vital victory on their path to the tournament.
The coach, speaking to reporters in Uyo ahead of the game, reaffirmed his belief in Boniface’s potential, suggesting that the player’s breakthrough moment could come in this fixture.
“Victor Boniface has always been an integral part of this team and will continue to be so,” Eguavoen stated with conviction.
“Although he hasn’t found the back of the net yet, I have full confidence in him. If he starts tomorrow, I can assure you, he will score.
”The coach’s words reflect his unwavering belief that Boniface, who has been in excellent form at club level, is on the verge of translating that success to the international stage.
Fans of the Super Eagles will be eagerly watching to see if Boniface can end his goal-scoring drought and contribute to Nigeria’s success in the important qualifier against Libya.
