Ogun Police Nab Suspected Cultist Linked to Murder

On Saturday, the Ogun State Police Command announced the arrest of 34-year-old Adekunle Adebajo, known as Kunle Polly, a suspected member of a cult, in connection with the murder of a rival cult member named Mosquito in the Ijebu Ode region of Ogun.

Reports indicate that Mosquito was brutally killed recently, with his left hand severed and removed by the perpetrators.

State police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola revealed this information in a statement released in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Saturday.

According to Odutola, a concerned citizen reported to the Divisional Police Officer in Igbeba on August 12 that rival cult members had clashed, resulting in Mosquito being shot, attacked with a machete, and his left hand being cut off and taken by his assailants.

Odutola mentioned that Adebajo, known by the nickname “Kunle Polly” and suspected of being involved in Mosquito’s murder, was apprehended at 12:03 a.m. in his hiding place at Isiwo, Ijebu.

She revealed that reliable information from the public helped the police follow leads to the location where the fleeing suspects were hiding.

Odutola stated, “Upon receiving this information, a team of detectives promptly mobilised and took action by moving to the location, where one suspect,  Adekunle Adebajo aka Kunle Polly, 34, was apprehended.

“During interrogations, Kunle Polly acknowledged his affiliation with the Eiye confraternity.

“This prompted a search to be conducted at his residence which led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol with six live rounds, two UTC axes, and charms.

“Investigation is ongoing to unravel the pattern of severing the left hand of their victims, and to arrest other criminals that fled the hideout.”
