Oba of Benin Urges Organisers to Shelve Planned Nationwide Protest

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has urged the Federal Government to hasten the execution of its economic policies to alleviate the current difficulties experienced by Nigerians.

Speaking via his Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, in Benin on Wednesday, the monarch requested Nigerians to delay the nationwide protest planned for August 1, 2024.

He explained that this postponement would give the government the opportunity to implement its economic plans.

Oba Ewuare II’s appeal comes after an urgent session of the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, which took place in Abuja.

“Following the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, the Omo N’Oba wishes to appeal to the general public to give the Federal Government sufficient time to implement its economic policies aimed at alleviating the present hardship experienced by Nigerians.
