The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to 150 more beneficiaries of the Sanwo-Olu Cares Social Intervention programme (SIP).

The Lagos State Government presented the cheques through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement.

The SIP is, meanwhile, an initiative that has been designed to address the needs of Lagosians.

In his remarks at the event recently, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Tajudeen Afolabi emphasised that the SIP is one of the various efforts the administration is undertaking to improve the lives of vulnerable residents and provide adequate economic empowerment, especially with the ongoing hardship in Nigeria.

“Every eligible and vulnerable citizen has a right to receive the support they need to overcome financial challenges and contribute to the State’s economic growth,” Afolabi said.

“Hence today’s event symbolises Mr. Governor’s dedication to his No One Will Be Left Behind philosophy.

“This is just the beginning of our commitment to ensuring that every Lagosian has the opportunity to thrive. Sanwo-Olu will continue to listen, understand and respond to the needs of Lagosians.”

Explaining the application and selection process, Dr. Afolabi clarified that there is no form of discrimination in the selection process of the beneficiaries.

He noted that all recipients were selected based on their application with detailed financial needs and how they planned to expend the funds.

Afolabi explained that each beneficiary will be receiving a cheque of varying amounts that would be tailored to their individual need.

Appreciating the Lagos State Government, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Esther Akinbamire noted that the financial aid will be used for the medical expenses of her son who is in dire need of urgent medical surgery.

Akinbamire also appreciated the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Ruth Lijrin for promptly coming to her aid and contributing her quota towards the wellbeing of her ailing son.

Speaking in a similar vein, another beneficiary, Mrs. Naomi Onigbanjo said the assistance came at a time she needed it most and she is incredibly grateful to be selected among many applicants.

A retiree, Mr. Gani Dada who is also one of the beneficiaries expressed his gratitude for the financial relief.

Dada stated that it will help him sort out his medical bills and purchase the drugs needed for his ailment.
