Lion kills worker at Obasanjo library’s zoo

A lion has killed a worker at the zoo in the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library

The Ogun State Police Command has announced that a worker at the zoo in the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Babaji Daule was killed by a lion on Saturday.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola announced the tragic news in a statement on Sunday detailing the incident.

Odutola said Daule who was 35-years-old as at the time of his death forgot to secure the locks and barricade the lion’s enclosure before approaching the cage to feed the wild animal.

“This oversight allowed the lion to escape and attack him, resulting in severe injuries to his neck which ultimately led to his death,” she said.

“The victim’s body has been taken to the mortuary at Ijaye General Hospital while the wild animal was shot to free its grip on the handler.”

Daule who was born in Bauchi State had worked for a while at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library’s zoo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
